Association gravel and concrete producers Aargau: Contest and open door at the gravel quarry
The members of the association of the gravel and concrete producers Aargau (VKB Aargau) admit their responsibility to close to nature and environmentally compatible quarrying of gravel and sand.
On the occasion of its 20 years’ existence, VKB Aargau launched a contest in cooperation with the nature museum Naturama at the end of May. 33 school classes participated in the contest and built big lizards of stones in the different gravel quarries of the Canton of Aargau. By doing so, they created new living spaces for reptiles, amphibians and insects. The 3 most beautiful lizards had been awarded with each 2’000 Swiss francs.
On Saturday, 26 May, members of the VKB Aargau opened their gravel quarries for public. Interested visitors informed themselves about the biodiversity on site of the quarries and the ecological and economic importance of the gravel and concrete producers.
