Sound installation ‚Unterwelten’ – surprising sounds from underneath the ground

Chirping chrickets, children’s voices and declarations of love from underneath the ground – this was ‘Unterwelten’, a sound installation lasting from September 16 – 21, 2009 in the Freie Strasse in Basel. Through this inventive installation by sound artist Peter Philippe Weiss the Basel association of the hard of hearing aimed to raise the awareness of the passers-by towards the preciousness of good hearing – after all hearing is an important premise for participating in all kinds of social activities! The opening took place on September 15, 2009. Among other guest speakers were Guy Morin, president of the Basel government and Georges Delnon, director of the Theater Basel.
