Swiss Crime Prevention: National Police Campaign against domestic violence

The Swiss Crime Prevention (SCP) in Neuenburg is a professional and coordinating body of the Conference of Cantonal Directors of Justice and Police. Together with int/ext Communications SCP developed the prevention campaign "Stop – Domestic Violence".

Yearly, around 10,000 women contact the police for protection from domestic violence. The clarification of the police’s role is central to the campaign: They protect victims and investigate suspects in the private sector. An interdisciplinary task force developed the campaign strategy as well as the brochures and posters. At the same time, deputies for the SCP, who are responsible for the implementation of the campaign in the police force, were educated. Further activities were included, for example, a national media conference in Berne.
